In 1981, Kremer founded a chamber music festival in Lockenhaus, Austria, with a focus on new and unconventional programming, serving as artistic director for 30 years until 2011. In 1997, Kremer founded the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra, composed of young players from the Baltic region. Kremerata Baltica performed Bach’s masterpiece Chaconne from Partita for Violin No. 2, arranged for string orchestra by Gidon Kremer and Victor Kissine and also prepared the third part of the concert – chamber music evening with Martinu’s Duo for two Violins, Dmitri Kurliandski’s Quartet “Dolce Stil Nuovo” and Shostakovich’s String Octet.
